You wouldn't believe how many lines of perspective where in this so far.

This is the first picture of a series for a story that i'm planning on making. This picture isn't anywhere near done but, I was so excited I finished drawing what felt like hundreds of lines of perspective for the columns, that I decided post it as a mini victory for myself. I spent the better part of the night working on this, and all I can think about is getting to bed so I can wake up and be done with work, so i can finish drawing this.

What I think Cleopatra looks like

First off I've been overly excited with a movie that doesn't come out until 2013, Cleopatra. So I've been reading about this movie, and people have been having this debate on what Cleopatra really looked like. So from what I've read about Cleopatra and images I've seen of what other people thinks she really looked like, I tried to portray as accurate an image as I can of what she looked liked. Although it's probably wrong, luckily there's no way to prove it.

Here are some of the pictures I used to decide on what she looks like. I used the first one as template for her basic face shape and from the other pictures I decided that she had a hooked nose, small lips and large eyes.

I Finished I Finished!!!!

I’m so excited to finally be finished with my painting. It is the first large painting that I’ve completed. I spent so much time with it I kind of can’t grasp the idea of not working on it tomorrow. I’ve had several problems while painting this, one of the largest problems was Joan’s face, I can’t even begin to count how many times I’ve repainted it. I’ve had problem with every aspect of her face, but the biggest turn around point was when my friend pointed out that I gave her basically a Jay Leno jaw line so I brought it up considerably from the original place. Other things about this painting, it has two focal point Joan, and the big yellow patch in the upper right corner, which is supposed be light representing god. Joan of arc had this special communication with god and I wanted to try and recreate that in the painting. The main colors of the painting are yellow, blue and purple. I picked them because yellow and blue always reminded me of France, and purple because it is associated with royalty and since Joan of Arc lead her army to drive English out of Reims so that Charles VII could be crowned. I’m sure there is other things I could say about this painting but right now I’m so excited about it be done I can’t think of anything else to add.

I finished the background!!

So for the past couple of days i've been painting the background and finally pretty happy with it. Now i cant wait for it to dry so i can repaint Joan of Arc and her sword. I cant believe i'm getting close to being done, and i cant believe how much more progress i'm making without Cvs monopolizing my day.
